The Challenge
Assets needed dependable assurance
A major UK oil and gas operator required ongoing specialist control and safety system support across several offshore installations to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
The assets needed more than reactive technical assistance. They required embedded support from engineers who understood ESD philosophy, F&G philosophy, process control and operating philosophy, functional safety lifecycle requirements, and the governance needed for E/E/PES changes on live operating assets.
ICSS was engaged to provide dedicated specialist resources who could integrate with the client's operations team, support day-to-day asset needs, and deliver defined scopes with the responsiveness required by offshore operations.
Our Scope
Specialist support embedded with operations
ICSS provided specialist engineering services across the client's operational control and safety system landscape, acting as a single point of contact for control and safety systems support.
Our engineers provided application support that required detailed knowledge of each asset's ESD philosophy, F&G philosophy, and process control and operating philosophy. Where supplier input was required, ICSS engaged technical support from the system supplier on the client's behalf and managed supplier activity to ensure corrective and preventative maintenance was completed effectively.
We took responsibility for managing E/E/PES changes across several assets, including validation and verification of requested changes. This provided disciplined control over modifications to electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic systems and helped protect the integrity of safety-related functions.
The support scope also included alarm management activities across the asset base, helping maintain effective operator response and operational clarity.
Within functional safety management, ICSS managed lifecycle activities and completed or contributed to functional safety deliverables, giving the client dependable technical capacity for both routine assurance and asset-specific improvement work.
